Inspiration for Free Crochet Dishcloth Pattern
The Ryan Crochet Dishcloth free pattern was designed to give my kitchen a modern, cozy farmhouse look. Just like many of you, I am tired of being so wasteful with paper towels. And, as we have all seen lately, paper products are a hot commodity and hard to come by at the store. Therefore, The Ryan Crochet Dishcloth beginner pattern was one that I knew I had to create.

The Ryan crochet dishcloth free pattern is my first beginner friendly pattern design. I wanted to create something that was easy for a first time crocheter and also an enjoyable project for the veteran maker. I have always felt so wasteful using so many paper towels to clean the kitchen counters, kitchen table, and spills around the house. Come March 2020 and hello COVID-19. Let’s all remember the shortage of paper goods. That is when I started this simple design to create a reusable dishcloth that can be used over and over again.
There were a few things that I knew that I wanted when creating this crochet dishcloth free pattern. First, I knew I wanted a modern farmhouse look. Second, I knew that I wanted a tight stitch look. Finally, I knew I wanted to use yarn that would be super absorbent and hold up in the washer and dryer.
My all time favorite crochet stitch is the half double crochet (hdc). To get the tight look I was going for I decided to go with the half double crochet between posts. That gave me the modern look I was going for. This stitch is easy to work up and looks like a million bucks when you are finished.
Yarn
I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream yarn because it is 100% cotton. It has a bit of firmness to it so I knew it would stand up to the scrubbing I would do. This yarn is also machine washable and safe to put in the dryer. It comes in a 4oz skein in many different colors, so the possibilities are endless. I can use more neutral colors for in the kitchen and the bright fun colors for wash cloths for the kids bath.
